The following list of electronic newsletters and services are available by subscription to help keep you up-to-date on governmental changes for small businesses.

SSA/IRS Reporter

The SSA/IRS Reporter is a joint effort between Social Security Administration (SSA) and IRS. It communicates messages to businesses with employees that support trust fund, employment tax, and business tax compliance, with an emphasis on educating and encouraging these stakeholders to file these taxes electronically.

The Reporter carries general information about best payroll and employment tax practices and SSA products and services, such as changes in forms for reporting employee wages, W-2 Online, SSA filing procedures and Business Services Online.

The SSA/IRS Reporter also includes timely information from the Department of Labor, Department of Justice, Health and Human Services, and other government agencies.

IRS e-News for Small Businesses: a Time Saver for Small Businesses and the Self-Employed

Keeping up with federal tax requirements is not always easy in today’s fast-changing business environment. Even if a tax professional’s services are used, small business owners and the self-employed still need to know and understand their tax responsibilities. IRS is working to provide businesspeople with timely information to help them understand and meet their tax obligations.  IRS e-News for Small Businesses is a bi-weekly newsletter that alerts small business owners to what’s new, hot and important to know. It’s easy to subscribe to, quick to read, – and it’s free.

e-News for Small Businesses is the IRS’s e-newsletter for businesses with specialized content consisting of: 

  •   Important upcoming tax dates for small businesses

  •   What’s new for small businesses on IRS.gov

  •   Reminders and tips to assist small businesses with tax compliance

  •   IRS news releases and special IRS announcements

  •   Direct links to a variety of Web sites and resources

  •   Availability of IRS products, services, and training opportunities

You may subscribe to e-News for Small Businesses on IRS.gov or other IRS e-newsletters. Click on the newsletter title, click on “Subscribe Now” and enter your e-mail address.

Social Security e-news

The Social Security Administration (SSA) will send current Social Security news through its new electronic newsletter which is free to subscribers. SSA's new service, Social Security e-news, will provide the latest Social Security information to subscribers the minute it is made public.

In addition to the monthly general newsletter, subscribers can also elect to receive timely updates on specific topics in the areas of:

Disability
Law and Regulations
Medicare
The Press Office
Retirement
Supplemental Security Income Issues
Survivors
Wage and Reporting

Interested groups, organizations or individuals will be able to subscribe to Social Security e-news through the link on SSA's website Social Security Online at www.ssa.gov , or they can go directly to the e-news subscription form at www.ssa.gov/enews.

Subscribers can also forward e-news to others and any interested recipients can quickly subscribe to the service with a click of the mouse.

Small Business Administration Newsletters and Publications
